Meet the Heart Behind
Renewed Minds Counseling
LaKeisha Thomas, LCSW
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Renewed Minds Counseling and Therapeutic Services, PLLC. I specialize in working with Black women navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Many of the clients I support are used to being the “strong one”—the person everyone depends on—but underneath, they’re tired and longing to feel seen, supported, and cared for.
I collaborate with individuals to explore past and present experiences with the goal of gaining insight, building skills, and becoming a better version of themselves. My therapeutic style blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Person-Centered approaches—tailored to your unique needs.
I also offer the integration of Christian faith into therapy. I believe in addressing the whole person—emotionally, spiritually, physically, and relationally—through a holistic lens that honors your values and lived experiences. Faith can be a powerful part of the healing process, and I’m here to support you in navigating it with both clinical care and spiritual understanding.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Services from Old Dominion University and my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Above all, I aim to provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you can show up fully, feel empowered, and move toward lasting change. Reaching out can be hard—but you don’t have to walk through this season alone.
